Passionate about exploring the synergy between artificial intelligence, robotics, and parallel programming to shape the future of technology.
Computer Science postdoctoral researcher at URI, AI Lab,
advised by Abdeltawab Hendawi.
I am on the job market for tenure-track Professor positions.
My research is at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics & Parallel Computing.
Current focus on AI for smart robots, Big Data and Path Planning.
For my thesis, I built a lab scale smart manufacturing system with robot operating system (ROS) infrastructure and route optimization on GPUs.
Lead instructor for CSC 104: Software Development, a rigorous 4-credit undergrad course guiding students in C++ fundamentals through advanced OOP & smart pointers. Developed the entire curriculum, utilizing modern interactive textbooks to enhance student engagement.
Mentor for multiple research projects including the utilization of Unitree Go and YOLO for enhanced accessibility, sensor fusion for real-time sidewalk accessibility assessment, and developing multi-threaded driver for UR5e robot manipulator. Co-PI of multiple proposals under review, Active program committee member at The 8th IEEE International Workshop on Big Spatial Data (BSD 2024)
Mentor for Undergrad, Master, and Ph.D. students, Co-PI NIUVT Next-Gen Naval Manufacturing Grant, Active reviewer at the International Journal of Production Research, Taylor & Francis, IEEE Control Systems Society Conference, Science China Information Sciences
Developed the Industry 4.0 Graduate Certificate Program (ISE 571, 572, 573, 575) at the University of Rhode Island – Currently program reviewer.
Developed the course content and exams for ISE 311/MCE 411: Probability and Statistics for Engineers (Undergrad level)
I tackled complex optimization problems by improving a Genetic Algorithm for vehicle routing by 1,700x using GPUs, reducing execution time from years to few hours. Statistical analysis further enhanced solution quality by 150% and allowed for problems 20 times larger. I utilized Reinforcement Learning for novel algorithm optimization. I contributed to open-source development by creating a lab-scale Industry 4.0 testbed using ROS and MQTT. My passion for education led me to serve as a lab instructor for senior design courses (ISE 401 & 402) for 6 semesters, delivering lectures on embedded systems and guiding over 100 students through 25 graduation projects. Additionally, I collaborated with NVIDIA to conduct deep learning workshops.
I led the university team at the Robot Block Party exhibit in 2018 at Brown University, showcasing robotics to the community. I involved a speech recognition and synthesis system for a robot arm that could draw geometric shapes based on voice commands, utilizing deep learning . I designed autonomous robots using ROS and created a unique ribbon-cutting robot arm for the AI lab's opening ceremony.
I ensured the functionality, safety, and efficiency of automated systems by overseeing installation, testing, and startup. This included leading the energization of 4 high-voltage substations. Additionally, I reviewed SCADA point lists for over 100 substations, ensuring accurate data collection and system monitoring. I actively participated in shaping the national grid automation standard, contributing to a more robust and reliable power infrastructure.
Led the design and implementation of automated control systems for diverse industries, including oil and gas, power distribution, and even subway systems.
Installed and maintained power distribution automation systems for over 35 medium-voltage substations.
